Elisha Kent Kane Wetherill

Wetherill was born in Philadelphia and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. He studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and at the Academie Julian in Paris. In 1927, Wetherill was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design in New York City. He was also president of the Philadelphia Society of Etchers. Wetherill did more than 70 prints in his career, many of which he is credited for printing himself. Some of his prints show a strong influence from Whistler.
