Jack MarkowBorn in London in 1905, Markow came to the United States at the age of two and was raised in New York City. He studied at the Art Students League
from 1922 to 1929. His first one-man show was at the A.C.A. Gallery in New York. In the 1930's he worked on the Fine Arts Project at the W.P.A.
and was recognized for his outstanding work in the field of lithography. Markow was also a member of the Society of Magazine Cartoonists, publishing
his cartoons in the New Yorker, the Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, and other prominent magazines. He worked as cartoon editor
for Argosy in the early 1950's, and is credited with writing and illustrating several books on cartooning.
