John E. CostiganBorn in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1888, Costigan was basically self-taught as an artist. He is considered an
outstanding etcher and water colorist in his interpretation of life on an American farm. Moving to a farm
in Orangeburg, New York, in 1919, Costigan performed the chores of a farmer as well as etching and painting his family and
other subject matter involving farm life.
