John W. WinklerJohn W. Winkler produced over 400 etchings and was renowned in American graphic art as a master etcher and a master of line. He needled over 45 etchings of San Francisco's Telegraph Hill area which was a poor section of the city inhabited by Italian immigrants and their families. Winkler's works are represented in the collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Boston Public Library, Metropolitan
Museum of Art, New York Public Library, Oakland Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Etching, 1922, edition about 75 or less. Library of Congress 10. Signed in pencil, 'Winkler jw'. In good condition printed on white wove paper with adequate margins. Considered by many as Winkler's best image of San Francisco's Chinatown in the early 20th century.
