Nat Lowell Nat Lowell was born in Latvia in 1880. He came to New York at an early age and studied art at the Art Students League. He is well known for his etchings of New York, showing the architectural splendor of its bridges, buildings, and monuments, as well as the changing skyscape of the city during the first half of the twentieth century. A great many of these etchings were published by Associated American Artists. Lowell also taught art at Hunter College and the New School for Social Research. His work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, the New York Historical Society, and the Newark Museum.
