Russell T. LimbachBorn and raised in Ohio, Limbach, studied at the Cleveland School of Art and in Paris and Venice. He worked as a technical expert on color lithography for the New York City WPA during the years, 1935-1940. His work is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, New York Public Library, San Francisco Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, and Yale University.
He was a professor of art at Wesleyan University in Connecticut until his death in 1971. Limbach is recognized as one of the great innovators of color lithography.
