Warren B. Mack

Mack was a noted horticulturist and wood engraver at Penn State University until his death in 1952. Many of his engravings were related to the subjects he studied in his horticultural research. He was elected as an Associate Member to the National Academy of Design in 1944, being sponsored by the etcher, John Taylor Arms. Mack was influenced by the works of J.J. Lankes and Timothy Cole, both well known wood engravers, while working on his Ph.D at Johns Hopkins University. His work is in the collection of the Fogg Museum at Harvard University, the Library of Congress, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Hunterian Art Gallery in Scotland.
