A good impression with good color, printed on laid paper with full margins. In good condition aside from an almost indiscernible light discoloration from a previous mat opening and some wrinkling in the outer areas of the margins.

Published by the Federal Art Project, NYC, WPA. Shields was born in New York City and studied at Columbia University. He did 17 prints for the WPA from 1935-39. Known mostly for his abstract work and surrealism.
